SJ Dunstan graduated sixth in her class at South Texas College of Law.

She earned the highest grade in the class in eight courses. As a recent addition to the team at Frye, Oaks, Benavidez & O’Neil, she handles civil litigation matters in several areas of law, including contract, tort, and property disputes, as well as appeals.

Prior to seeking her law degree, SJ earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre – Acting/Directing with a focus on Dialects from University of Houston, where she also extensively studied music and music theory.

In law school, SJ served on the South Texas Law Review as a Member and as Assistant Information Editor. The law review chose SJ’s Comment for publication. She later served as Research Assistant to Professor Dave Hague, where she compiled case law in each federal circuit regarding Ponzi schemes. When SJ served in the Animal Law Clinic, she offered legal assistance and guidance to an animal rights organization that was doubling its efforts to free Lucky the Asian elephant, the sole, remaining elephant at the San Antonio Zoo.

During law school, SJ also served as a judicial intern to Senior United States District Judge David Hittner and Magistrate Judge Mary Milloy, where she had the opportunity to draft orders for the judges under the supervision of their law clerks. SJ then worked as a law clerk for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas in the Asset Forfeiture Division learning about civil asset forfeiture, an extremely intricate and controversial law.

Prior to joining the Firm, SJ practiced at a boutique law firm in Houston, where she gained invaluable experience as a civil litigator, primarily in the personal injury field.

When she isn’t wearing her lawyer costume, SJ runs her own petsitting business, tends bar, and works for several professional theatre companies in Houston, primarily as an actor. She also plays piano (and video games!), dances, and sings. She has a dog named Goose and a cat named Rhino.
